Hurricane Sandy is the latest example of how the social space plays an integral part in how we share and receive news. “Sandy” was mentioned 4.8 million times on Twitter, while Instagram played home to 10 photo uploads per second (including the one below) even before landfall. Social media’s ability to provide real-time news makes it the most effective and successful means of communication today, according to Anthony Crupi of Adweek.
