This article shares Forrester Research data released on online display ad spends. The research shows positive for digital media, as online display ad spend in the United States will reach 12.7 billion this year and will be worth $28 billion by 2017. With an incline in online ad display, there’s been a decline in more traditional media in the area of “offline” display. The most popular format for ad buyers is rich media and video ads, as static images have declined at a rate of 45% in both the US and Europe. Another low-tech format is text-based display ads which are growing at a faster pace than rich media ads. Forrester predicts video spend will overtake text ads by 2014.
