A study by Prosper Mobile Insights found that the majority of mobile device users plan to use a smartphone or tablet to help with this year’s Christmas shopping by researching items, purchasing gifts and locating stores, among other ways. Additional findings include: 66 percent of shoppers will use their mobile device to compare prices with another physical store, 60 percent will use them to check the prices of online retailers and nearly 50 percent will use a smartphone or tablet to read reviews to help decide which product they’d like to purchase. The top gifts shoppers will be purchasing on their mobile devices include electronics, books, CDs, DVDs, video games, clothes and toys. Nearly 60 percent of people are likely to purchase products using a smartphone or tablet on each of the major shopping days.
