Apple announced on Monday, January 7th that the App Store has now exceeded 40 billion downloads since launching in 2008, with nearly 20 billion downloads in 2012 alone. The month of December played a big role with 2 billion app downloads, thanks to a strong holiday season. There are now more than 500 million active accounts in Apple’s App Store. The door is wide open for advertisers as this increase in application developments and downloads presents the opportunity for advertisers to engage with consumers anywhere, anytime.
