Samsung took its smartphone technology out of the spotlight for its most recent ad campaign. In a sharp branding move, Samsung teamed up with Jay-Z to bring the next big thing – Jay-Z’s Magna Carta Holy Grail Album to be released on July 4th. But that is not the only big news! Samsung is buying 1 million copies of the album at $5 apiece and giving it away to Samsung smartphone users 72 hours before anymore else can get it.

The ad itself went viral after gaining 8 million views in 3 days. The video is well crafted giving viewers an behind-the-scenes look at the making of the album. For Samsung, it generated a great amount of buzz but, most importantly, gave viewers a deeper connection with its products through the Jay-Z partnership. Talk about good branding.
